Non's Art Studio
Original Watercolor, Pastel and Graphite Art By Agnes Apicella

My Art Profile

Although watercolor painting is my preferred medium, I also use pastels in portraiture painting of children.   On my trips to Europe I often quickly  sketch an outdoor scene and later finish on watercolor paper or pastel canvas.

In my visits to California, I try to capture  sights of  newly sprouted grape vines and the mustard fields surrounding them.  The many winery vistas and ponderosas make a plein aire artist very happy..  Standing on the rocky Pacific coastline I see whales in the distance and  waves breaking on the rocks.   After many hours of camera work I choose a favotite photo I like  and begin a painting.

When I am in the Midwest I wander through rural areas and search for sun dappled barns and lakes in late afternoon shadows.  Sheep, horses and  cows are also willing subjects.

My formal training includes degrees from St. John's University and State University of NY. After teaching for many years  more time was devoted to my own painting.   My mentors and teachers have included Wendell Mohr, Jim Ochs, Christorpher Schink, Judy Butler,  Laura Lasworth,  Cecil Houel,  Marcia Wegman,  Gordon Kellenberger and Richard Mc Daniel.
